Having given birth to my own children late in life, by the time I become a grandmother my kids will be feeding me. All I seemed to hear was, "Oh, you just WAIT! You don't know what a blessing grandchildren are until you get them!" I'd kind of roll my eyes and think, "Yeah, yeah, yeah." My son and his wife were in no hurry to have babies so I was 52 when my first grandbaby was born. As I watched Dylan emerge into the world and held him in my arms for the first time, I was a goner. Ok...NOW I knew what they were talking about! And now, I'm a full time stay-at-home grandma taking care of TWO grandsons! Life, honestly, doesn't get any better than this. But I seem to come across the grandmothers who say "How do you DO it?" Slow and easy, that's how. With a lot of blind eyes cast towards piles of toys and many hours snuggled together on the couch or in the rocker recliner. It ain't half bad. Most of my friends became grandparents in their 40′s. When they're little people, not so much. When they’re babies, they’re easy. When they’re little people, not so much.

I referred to it as grandparenting practice. Husband looked at me like there were lobsters crawling all over me. So, maybe not yet. HIS mom was a grandma at my age (45). She started really young. We started at 26. I'm anticipating a few more years. We babysat a friend’s 4-year-old for a full day last summer. I referred to it as grandparenting practice. I'm so relieved to finally have a diagnosis. What's even more scary is that my husband caught it first! (is that possible?) I am going to forward this to several friends immediately, for I believe they are showing symptoms. Thank you so much. So THAT’S what’s wrong with me. I’m so relieved to finally have a diagnosis.
