MidLifeBloggers Writer’s Workshop Starts September 14
Here’s a punctuation question for you: I can’t decide whether or where to put the apostrophe in Writers. As it is in the title, it signals one writer. But then one writer can, in some cases, stand in for the many. Put the apostrophe at the end–Writers’–and the possessive is clearly plural. Or–how about leaving out the apostrophe completely. Or–how about not obsessing over such things, since that’s one way I avoid the writing task at hand. Which is…
In two weeks, the MidLifeBloggers Writer’s Workshop begins. September 14, to be exact. I have a list of about fifteen people who expressed interest. I’m writing the syllabus and laying out the basic format. Continuing on with the What I Know About Writing motif, here is What I Know About the Writers Workshop:
- Time frame: 3 weeks per “lesson”. I will post What I Know About Writing on a Monday. That Thursday I will post the first draft of the post for the On-Going Editing Dialogue. The following Monday, I will post my edited version. That Saturday, I’ll post the Writing Prompt. Let’s see how this works out. Will the time suit us–or not?
- After each post, I expect you will be commenting. The thing about a workshop is that it’s interactive. It functions best when the members are fully engaged. The whole purpose of the On-going Editing Dialogue is to get you thinking about the choices others make vis a vis your own. So if you’re participating in the Workshop, at the least you will be commenting.
- Privacy. A writers workshop can only work when there is trust among the members. Therefore, I’m making all MidLifeWriter’s Workshop posts private. Only those who have the password will be able to get into them to see and to comment. In order to set that up, I need your email addresses.
I’ve compiled a list of those of you who said you wanted to participate. Now I’m asking you to confirm that by sending your name, email address, blog name to jane(at)midlifebloggers(.)com.
I’m open to all comments, questions, suggestions, concerns. This is a group effort; it won’t fly if only I’m doing it.
