First of all thank you for being so honest about what you’re going through. It helps all of us to hear all sides of it. I’m struggling with the weight issue and my sluggish metabolism as well. It can be a frustrating scary period, I agree. I’ve managed to find some sense of freedom and joy as I come out on the other end.. though I also have to keep plucking those damned hairs!!! Geez.

I’m 50, my periods are like clockwork along with my cramps. I’m pissed not yet to have started menopause. I guess now I can be pissed off when it starts. Like you, I’ll try and keep my sense of humor. Maybe I’ll get hit by a truck instead.

I am so feeling your pain. I’m in full blown menopausal malaise and absolutely friggin hate it. I’d like to birch slap women who are able to skip gleefully through menopause without a care or symptom. Ugh.

It seems like it does get harder and harder to bounce back. Whether it’s the hot flashes, mood swings or the weight gain, I’m tired. I don’t even feel like complaining anymore.

I am through the other side of “the change” and was delighted to hear someone comment “You look younger than now than when I met you ten years ago.” Everything settles down, including the weight shifts, and your inner Goddess emerges again.

The only thing I know for sure is that change is a constant. What that means is that this period of malaise, too, shall pass. With a spirit and sense of humor like yours, that’s a given!
