Wednesday Writers Workshop: Holiday Memories, Naughty or Nice

Here’s a simple one:  what’s the one thing you could always count on at Christmas/Chanukah/Kwaanza/whatever? It could be something nice, like a gift or a tradition.  Or it could be something if not naughty, then just not nice.

I’ll be posting my response tomorrow, and I’ll be rounding up all of yours in the comments.

A Pez dispenser from my Uncle Jonny. He’s just nine years older than I am, so he was more like a big brother. Each year he found a Pez dispenser that he knew I’d like – and he found one for my brother, too.

A box of Pot Of Gold Chocolates. As a chocolate lover I started my own tradition of wrapping up a box for myself to make sure I was treated to this treasure when the kids were little. Through the years there would always be at least one that I would offer to share yet (thankfully) they all said no.

Last year when the kids finally arrived, I heard whispers and groans and suddenly my son mentioned he needed something from the drug store. Sure enough when we began our gift opening, there was my box of chocolate wrapped in a drug store bag. Its a silly tradition but it means the world to me.
