So they’ll miss Christmas at home but be back for New Year’s, regardless of when the dying family member actually passes. Life goes on.

Not having her around during Thanksgiving, her birthday, and Christmas has been hard. The pain is starting to dull a little bit but just this evening when wrapping presents I found several old gift tags address to my children “from Auntie Lisa” in her characteristically bad handwriting. These little things take my breath away. Nothing will ever be the same, especially the holidays. :(
