Thanks for your response. I like your idea of letting go, so as not to cause her to retreat. That's really smart. Also the Clooney comment. Best wishes. Nothing ever seems to change. It always amuses me that no matter what age we are, that as soon as we are with siblings we return to our roles of childhood. Nothing ever seems to change.

It's an ongoing process. My sister and I have been trying to get along as adults for almost 20 years. I'm guessing you're the older sibling, if so, try some Acceptance. The more you pursue the faster he/she will retreat. Set aside your agenda and frustration then chill. Also realize a simple fact, if making people (even our family) love us the way we want to be loved were possible, George Clooney wouldn't be single. I sincerely hope this helps. Keep hope and All The Best. Dear Lynne,

If the therapist can work his magic over the internet I have a some family members I'd like to refer. Your last post over on www.thedivaofdating.com was a good one. I over-think the problem of what to wear everytime I go out. Thanks for the back-up on this one. If the therapist can work his magic over the internet I have a some family members I’d like to refer.

I keep my mouth shut and I offer support if asked. Four of us get along quite nicely. As for the 5th? Practicing acceptance is a good suggestion! What if you love them but wouldn't interact if they weren't family? I'm 58, so I'm pretty far along in the process of figuring out strategies for life in general, but in this case, I can't seem to give up hope that things will improve, and then when they inevitably don't, I get frustrated at the time I wasted. Life would be so much easier if we had more distance! Easier said than done. What if you love them but wouldn’t interact if they weren’t family?
