I am sorry that I did not phrase my comment correctly and by doing so gave the wrong impression. I loved the way that you wrote this and expressed your sexuality and was trying to affirm that by stealing your phrase ‘we don’t have to let others dictate our lives as older women’.
I admire that baby boomer women such as yourself are courageous, honest and forthcoming enough to share their experiences, paving the way for future generations to follow.

Wearing sexy lingerie is not necessarily about pretending to look or act younger for many of us. Actually, the point of my essay and the reason I was approached to review the corset was because I could enjoy the experience and validate “our” sexuality as an older woman–not that it would make me more youthful or that it would somehow alter anything.

We did not allow others to dictate our lives as younger women, in mid life we have not changed. I do not wear sexy underwear to try and look younger nor to simply turn on my partner. In midlife I have not lost my desire to have passion, intimacy, sexiness and fun.
