I’ve just returned from a week or so in LA. Lots of fun; lots of pain. More about the fun later. The pain is an incessant muscle spasm in my hip area. It’s been going on for days, despite muscle relaxants. I did quick tour of WEB MD and diagnosed it as being stress related. This has happened to me before in other muscles. Once I had to have a shot of lidocaine in my shoulder to relax the damned thing. I’m trying to avoid any medical visits for this one because–well, just because.
What I did in LA:
1. Spent time with my friends, M and D. They are my former next door neighbors, so I got to see the old house. It is very empty. I felt absolutely no pangs, no longing to return, no wistfulness about past times there. Good.
2. Had lunch with my friend, M, at Prego in B. Hills. Basked in the reflection of much lust from other diners for M’s new L.V. purse. Quite funny to watch.
3. Went to Yom Kippur services at Temple Israel. As much as my old house didn’t raise any interest, TIOH is still a source of feelings good and bad. I want to belong, yet I know I can never fit in. It’s like being back in high school again.
What I Did Before I got to LA:
1. Had a major blowout on the Grapevine, going up the mountain near Frazier Park. I have always suspected I would have a blow out one day. Don’t know why, but I’ve practiced for it. So when it happened, it wasn’t as scarey as one might expect. For those who you who don’t know the area, it’s a winding, highway over the mountains between the LA Basin with the Central Valley.
What I Also Did in LA:
1. Spent the weekend kid-sitting with Kayla and Sam. This was a hoot, despite my back/hip. They are incredibly cool people.
2. Saw the dentist, had my teeth cleaned, had a tooth pulled.
