It’s hot in Iraq too…

Submitted by byjane on Saturday, 24 June 2006One Comment

I just found a link to a blogger in Fallujah and after reading his account of the heat there, I feel chastened (which is a potentially sweaty state in and of itself).

Seriously, for those of you who have opinions about the state of the world, this blog guy is there.  Boots on the ground, do they call it?  I am somewhat awestruck.

I have a friend in Washington state who’s just been posted to Iraq. He’s sending us messages when and as he can. It’s awesome the hardship and danger these soldiers are enduring, and for what?
I’d be a lousy soldier. I’d constantly be questioning the sanity of the commanders in charge of my fate.

These guys are deserving of immense respect for their willingness to lay aside their normal critical faculties and OBEY, even unto death.
    And extreme heat.

I’d like to see the Chimp and the Puppet spend a full week each out there, as normal grunts, and then see how far they’re prepared to commit the troops to further deployment.
