Giveaway: Readers for those with Short-Arm Syndrome

My mom developed a vision problem when I was a kid, and I remember that it really scared me. Her arms got too short to be able to look up numbers in the telephone book. The problem quickly got worse. Soon her arms weren’t long enough to read the newspaper and then books. Eventually she went to a doctor and got some glasses that–well, I wasn’t sure what they did because how could glasses make your arms longer? The whole thing frightened me because I had no idea that one’s arms could shrink once you were grown up.

Then I got to be a grown up and sure enough, my arms began to shrink. I needed one pair of glasses to read with–on top of the contact lenses I wear to just plain see. Then I needed another pair of glasses to focus on the computer screen. And another pair to see to eat. That’s a lot of spectacles and I tended to buy them wholesale at the Dollar Store. Or if I was really splurging–and into cute–at the drugstore. Of course, the actual diagnosis for both my mom and me wasn’t the dreaded shrinkus armus. It was presbyopia, and I bet you have it too.

I don’t know where you get your reading glasses, but here’s a chance to win a free pair from Reading Glasses Shopper of the Affordable Style network.  They’re giving two lucky presbyopic MidLifeBloggers a pair of their high-quality, in-fashion reading glasses.  Here’s what you have to do. Take a look at the two photos below.

The first is of me in the Magnum style readersJane wearing Magnum half-readers

The second is of me in the Lennon (as in John, of course) style readers

Congratulations to Joanna Jenkins and Pam. Now I need your email addresses (which you can send to me privately) so that I can pass the information on to Bridget of Reading Glasses Shopper. With any luck, you’ll be seeing clearly by the New Year!!!

Thanks, everyone. You were split in which glasses looked better on me, so I guess I’ll wear both of them–but not at the same time, of course. (Boy, that was dumb)

They both look pretty good to me. But not everyone has the personality to carry off the Lennon. YOu do.

    Oh, the Lennon! Definitely!

The half-readers give you full-intellectual cred.

Good. If I can get my intellectual cred from my glasses, then I can stop spouting off.
