The bad back fairy must have sprinkled some nuggets over our house, because D. and I are both suffering mightily. It seems to me that my back goes out quite regularly at this time of year. I remember one horrendous Thanksgiving…and somehow last year comes to mind as well (if only I’d had this LiveJournal, I could merely go back and look it up). My doctor told me to stay moving, so I did some retail therapy at Century City. I wandered through Bloomies and then homed in on Sephora, where I tried on some lipgloss guaranteed to last all day, yet feel weightless. Also schmeared some dark green shadow on one eye and bronze on the other. Then tried an interesting eyebrow pencil in two different shades. Then…a rather large black saleswoman with a husky voice offered to show me the new eyebrow gels that Makeupforever has. She was exquisitely delicate in her application, but that closeup revealed her…five o’clock shadow. I would say, only in LA–but I suspect that’s no longer true…

I am always dazzled by pretty makeup, but I wear it so rarely that it just doesn’t make sense for me to buy it.

    I’d rather buy shoes.

Or, these days, cute baby clothes.

I bought the eye shadow quad I was playing with. It’s cream shadow–so much better for wrinkled lids, my dear. The colors are black, bronze, loden, and silver. It was my gift to myself…or so I’m saying.

So sorry about your back problems.

Did you buy anything at Sephora, besides the GC?
